Well i do to.. I'm looking for a way to fix this. I currently have disabled downloading sounds via console but was wondering if there is a simple fix so that i don't have to disable anything. I'm sure other people have this issue and this could be helpful to future n00b players.

"cl_downloadfilter = nosounds" is the temp fix

Done that doesn't help just keeps downloading them only on the main server though.

Mine was doing that to.. I used that console command and now it only downloads image parts. it def has something to do with Mani admin mod. It's still only a temp fix tho. Not sure what causes it or how to fix it perm. All I know is it's causing me to lose presious seconds of warm
up round.

Well imagine your mic working 100% and clear in all games and on all servers except the main AND having to DL sounds every connect & map change. Pisses me off

Make sure you have hl2.exe set to run as administrator.

I had this issue so I just download the full manimod and the sounds pack and did some copy pasting work and ended up getting it to work.

Do you have Windows 7 (or maybe even Vista)?

There is definitely a permissions problem + mani problem + fast downloads problem we have going on.

Yeah the quick solution would be to download the mani quake sound pack from the link Spidey posted and extract them in the appropriate places -- when I did it the zip was structured like my cstrike folder so it was easy.

You could also turn off the sound downloads in console but then you wouldn't get the sounds -- I like this suggestion Cab, since I don't even use the sounds.

But if you google Windows 7 Counter Strike Source Sound Downloads or something like that you get a ton of these issues.

i put put the cl_download stuff in my cfg file and fixed the problem. Ths sound thing I posted for you works not for me aswel. I still have the mani admin plugin decal thing that slows my connection speed down to.

instead of adding cl_downloadfilter "nosounds"
add
cl_downloadfilter "none"

This might prevent you from downloading maps -- eg vertigo / vostok / most maps on the gun game server -- just a heads up.
