520 is low as heck for a PSU in a modern machine especially considering you put a 7850 in there, but the thing might still supply enough wattage for what it's worth. I'd personally put more into the PSU than $70 unless it happens to be a sale model, though SeaSonic has a good reputation. Shoot for at least 650-700 Watts.

it all looks good, However I agree with Kwang, 520 watts may suffice but its going to be a squeeze, with the i5 and 7850 in there. go with a 650-700 minimal
Also make sure it has
-Active Pfc-
-80 plus certified-
-is a very well known brand with some good reviews (ocz, Corsair, Thermaltake, and Antec all make pretty good Psu's, I personally Use A corsair in my own Pc)

What kind of CPU cooler are you going with? You have to think about that when it comes to the height of your RAM. I have the Noctua and I had to use low profile ram to make it all fit. Also the PSU is too weak, you should go bigger with something in the 700 to 800 watt range with your price point. I have a Cooler Master PSU and a Cooler Master case and I recommend both.

Make sure that to make the system components most compatible with one another, your friend chooses RAM from this list:

How to use this list:

Under the heading "Module", there is an alphanumerical code that corresponds to a particular RAM module, by brand, size and a variety of other factors.

This list is of the RAM that has been tested with the motherboard and found to work well.


I'll get you started by checking the RAM you already have posted:


That RAM module is listed as "F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL" on the Newegg website. This particular module has not been tested with the motherboard you've chosen. This doesn't necessarily mean it's incompatible, but at the very least it is an unknown.


These are compatible (going by similar specs/pricing, and starting with the same brand and only using Newegg and other well-known brands):
