Hey, so I just got a pretty damn good computer recently, probably about 6 months ago. i7 920 2.67ghz, 8gbs of ram, and a NVIDIA Geforce GT 220. Also running Windows 7 Premium 64-bit.

My question is, do you guys think it's too soon to upgrade my video card? And if it's not what do you think would be a good card to do so with? I wanna stay somewhere in the 120-160 range if that helps.

Possibles?: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130591

Thanks guys

Its never too soon when it comes to computer upgrades! The GTX460 you linked is great card and that is one hell of a price. For that price range I would say stick with that GTX460 or if you want the AMD 5770 is also an option. If you could pop in a few more bucks the 6850 is a pretty good option too as its quieter and runs cooler and competes with the GTX460. Also uses less jigga watts and if you ever plan on Xfiring, it scales amazingly. Another thing to note is the GTX470's will be going out of stock soon as the GTX570's just came out so maybe watch those prices around Christmas and your in for a scoop! I say the GT220 should suffice till Christmas, where prices usually go down a little to ramp up sales and you'll probably get your best catch at that time.

I wouldn't upgrade unless you plan on playing a DX11 game soon.

Just looked up the GT 220, do you get 100fps in Source on it? It's pretty low and that card you posted is really good for that price. You have a lot of the more high-end computer components in the i7 2.8 and 8gb ram and with that card it would balance your system a lot better so that you can play anything you want on a high setting without dropping frames.

The 470 is also really nice, but even if the price drops, you are looking at $50-75 more pre-MIR over the card you post and that's if it even drops that much.

Also, if you were looking at Just Cause 2, the card comes with the game which is $60, and after rebates would bring the cards price down to $80, if not the game is just an extra on the $140.

Yeah, I can usually stay about 250+ fps (with some big drops every now and then) on all high without filtering or vsync. And no, I wasn't really looking at Just Cause 2. Would you have any card suggestions otherwise?

And Apex, I was planning on getting MoH, BF BC2, or CIV 5 soonish. And I'm pretty sure all three of those have DX11 support.

For your price range, there is nothing better. Actually, even over your price range, there are few cards that are better.
