Post subject:  CS:S Help

I was Playing Counterstrike Yestererday till about 2 this morning. I started up my computer today and ran counterstrike like normal, I received an error saying that HL2 has experienced and error and needed to close and they were sorry for the inconvenience. I have recieved this error before with other programs but not on Counterstrike. I decided to restart the computer and see what happened; i recieved the same result. After restarting multiple times and shutting it down i decided possible that something had become corrupted so i decided to reinstall the game. i reinstalled the game and still received the error. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling CS:S 4 times today and have not recieved a positive result. I could really use some help from some of you computer smart people.

HELP Niqqas !

Thanks,
Mossy Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_30

Go to

C:\WINDOWS\system32

Delete this last folder, and then you are good to go.

HAHA, j/k, humm but what else does it say?, did you unistall your steam? and re-install it?, did it appear any other message error?, perhaps an error on OpenGL?, can you try to describe it even better?.

i agree i'm thinkin maybe steam got jacked up some how. that or maybe you have some sort of trojan that messes with your program files.

Try deleting clientregistry.blob from your steam folder. This fixes 99% of all steam related problems.

Alternatively, check your firewall and AV software. They have a tendency of killing games.

Now thanks for being more clear about it, try this:
1. Right click on your game in steam
2. Click "properties"
3. Click "set launch options"
4. enter the cmd "-dxlevel 81" (without ")
5. click "ok" and close properties
6. launch the game
7. if the game is not working properly try the cmd "-dxlevel 70"

Setting the direct x level works too.
The fix can be found under steam troubleshooter under game crashes section allthough steam also tell you to type the cmds.
-nosound
-window
and +mat_forcehardwaresync 0
and these can also fix some games problems
but it seems direct x is the only thing you need to change on gmod10

This is a link to the support page containing this fix:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...7169-TIAV-5361

Scroll to set game launch options and disable problematic hardware
