i believe there have been a couple of posts about interp recently that you may want to go back and look into because these posts were made by more informed people than myself so unless some one like docwonder, LV, or seiji come in here and own my face and tell me that interp should be different from what im doing then ill leave it alone ... that ends my retarted post

Set it to what runs best for you. I can't run .01, it makes me skip so hard it's near impossible to play. I personally run at .02. It took some getting used to, but I'm playing much better than I did at .1 (stock I think). So try .01 - .05 and figure out what works best for you. It WILL take a bit to get used to, but it's much, much better.

from what I gather, interp is the distance of "interpretation" for the server to calculate where you are (where your hitboxes are) and where your hitboxes actually are. EX: If you are standing in a spot with "ex_interp .1" and you move 1 foot forward, your hitboxes will be stretched because the calculations of the server are not 100% your hitboxes, they are more like 110%. This makes them bigger and you get owned. Of course, when you stop again, the hitboxes go back to normal. This is why when you're running behind a wall and people shoot you, it might seem like they are walling you. Really they are shooting at the hitboxes that still exist in the open area = gg. So like, when you complain about hitting h4x0rz like ytlas/brand, they are using ex_interp .01 so that their hitboxes are F*CKING huge. So a perfect interpretation of where you are on the server would be "ex_interp 0", but 0 isn't possible because servers blow. So ex_interp .01 is the closest possible fix. Also keep in mind, that if you use "ex_interp .01", the other players may seem to skip all over the place. This is because their computer doesn't send enough updates of their movement to the server and your connection to the server isn't fast enough to perfectly see where the players are. If you get this problem, just move ex_interp up by .05 until the figures move smoothly (unless you're Xtreme and play like me with the other laggy players like brand told me to do) If you're not able to have "ex_interp .01" because it forces the number higher, it's because your update and command rate are not high enough (all 3 commands are interrelated). To have .01 interp, the cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate have to be close to "101". rate 25000 cl_updaterate 101 cl_cmdrate 101 cl_rate 9999 ex_interp 0 (it automatically forces it up, and hey, if there's ever a server that uses "0", I'll take it) you want the "cl_cmdrate 101" and "cl_updaterate 101" because it updates what you see on the map faster AND updates your own position at a faster rate. higher rates = more registration of your bullets (and less whining from me as you lag around on my screen) now if someone could tell me what cl_rate 9999 does. NEVER PLAY ICEWORLD WITH THESE RATES AND INTERP! OMFG!!!! (and for n00bfest servers, I play with 70 cl_cmdrate/updaterate and rate 20000)

i used the rates that kicked posted, and my loss is 0, but my choke tends to jump up, sometimes around 10, and at some points on some maps all the way up to around 50 and then drops back down...anyone have any ideas

ya i decided ive fucked with shit i have no idea about for too long so im reinstalling and starting over...ive typed in the wrong thing sometimes like interp instead of ex_interp, so i dont even know what ive fucked up...im retarded

no, open your config/userconfig/autoexec and put ex_interp 0, i never touch my rates anyway since i don't mind having 0-2 choke in some random server. i have a sticky at the top of this forum that answers everything that everyone put in here, it all seems like a copy/paste from my thread to me.

set your cl_cmdrate to equal fps_max cl_udaterate you must play around with till you don't get choke... start with cl_updaterate 30 and move up in increments of 5 till you get choke... then back it down. Tucker is right...set your interp to 0 and let CS determine your correct interp.
